Emirates extends paid-for seat selection

Business Traveller - - UPFRONT -

EMIRATES HAS AMENDED ITS advance seat selection policy, with economy class passengers facing charges of up to US$135 per flight to select the best seats.

The carrier originally launched selection fees last year for economy flyers travelling on Special and Saver fares. Regular seats now cost US$15-$35, while new “Extra Value” seats cost the following:

• Preferred seat (closer to the front of the plane): US$25-US$80

• Twin seat (a row of two seats at the back of the B777 or the front of the A380 upper deck, usually closer to the washrooms): US$35-US$110

• Extra-legroom seat (available up to to six hours before departure):

US$55-US$135. Economy passengers on Special or Saver fares must pay for all advance seat selection, while those on Flex or Flex Plus fares must pay for Extra Value seats. Business and first class passengers can select for free. A range of free and paid-for seat selection benefits apply for Emirates Skywards and Qantas Frequent Flyer members depending on tier. All passengers may select for free from 48 hours before departure. emirates.com
