NOT A FIRST-CLASS EXPERIENCEONBA

Business Traveller - - INBOX YOUR LETTERS -

I flew on from JFK to Heathrow with BA on 9 October in first class but my overall experience was the worst I have ever endured. Service was poor in the Concorde Room at Heathrow; tables were littered with used crockery and had not been wiped clean. On board, there were foil flakes floating down the aisle because of faulty air-conditioning vents, a previous passenger’s used pyjamas had not been cleared from my seat area and there were no blankets. Upon my return to London, I contacted BA’s Executive Club about the problems and found the person I spoke with unhelpful. She offered me 15,000 Avios as compensation. When I indicated that this did not reflect the inconvenience, the offer was increased to 25,000. In my opinion, BA’s premium service in first has declined immeasurably and it appears that the company does little to make up for sub-standard service. Balwant Singh, London
