Capacity - - Five Top : Satellite Operations -

Vi­asat is plan­ning to or­der three Vi­asat-3 Ka-band satel­lites to ex­pand its cov­er­age glob­ally with through­put ca­pac­ity of 1Tbps for each of the satel­lites. The first two satel­lites will fo­cus on the Amer­i­cas and Europe, Mid­dle East and Africa (EMEA). Vi­asat-2 will be the world’s high­est ca­pac­ity com­mu­ni­ca­tions satel­lite when launches in early 2017 with an es­ti­mated 350Gbps of ca­pac­ity. Projects:

Amer­i­can Air­lines (AA): Ex­clu­sive agree­ment to pro­vide high-speed in-flight Wifi con­nec­tiv­ity to a new 737 MAX fleet of it AA planes, har­ness­ing the band­width ca­pa­bil­i­ties of the Ka-band, which cov­ers the 26.5-40GHZ fre­quen­cies.

Air Force One: Up­grad­ing and sup­ply­ing in-flight broad­band and com­mu­ni­ca­tions ser­vices to the US pres­i­dent’s air­craft. As a re­sult of a $73 mil­lion deal the US govern­ment will have ac­cess to ser­vices such as real-time in­tel­li­gence and HD video con­fer­enc­ing.
