Low-or­bit op­er­a­tor O3b Net­works be­gan full com­mer­cial op­er­a­tions in 2014 and af­ter rais­ing $460 mil­lion, O3b set its sights on ex­pand­ing its con­stel­la­tion from 12 to 20 satel­lites by 2018 to meet grow­ing de­mand for higher through­put and high per­for­mance low-la­tency con­nec­tiv­ity. The ad­di­tional satel­lites en­sure O3b has suf­fi­cient ca­pac­ity to meet the de­mand of its en­ergy and govern­ment busi­nesses. Projects:

Speed­cast: Pro­vid­ing broad­band con­nec­tiv­ity in Lae, Pa­pua New Guinea.

Onzio: De­liv­er­ing 3G and 4G con­nec­tiv­ity, on a “pay as you grow” ba­sis, to Tefe, Brazil.

Dig­i­cel: Sup­port­ing LTE ser­vices roll­outs in Ja­maica and Samoa by pro­vid­ing core con­nec­tiv­ity ser­vices.
