THE GROUP BEHIND BEIRUT HOTEL HOTSPOT, Le Gray, is making its way to West Africa. On the back of Liberia’s growing economy, Campbell Gray Hotels has just debuted The Farmington Hotel, bringing a level of luxury that’s not been available before in the developing country. Ideally situated both close to Robertsfield Airport and on the banks of the Farmington River (which is best taken in from one of the hotel’s infinity pools overlooking it), the property comprises 164 modish rooms and suites, two restaurants (one Mediterranean and another Japanese), three pools and a spa. While business travellers are likely to make up the majority of guests (it boasts Liberia’s largest hotel meeting facility), The Farmington is more than ready to show leisure travellers a good time with a marina to set off on river cruises, golf at nearby Firestone, traditional canoe rides, hiking in Grand Bassa and deep-sea fishing trips. Campbell Gray is also looking to give back to Liberia while celebrating the hotel’s opening, and plans to donate a portion of the operating profits to Save the Children which provides help through basic education, health and protection.
