Maersk Drilling awards long- term con­tract for off­shore communications

A multi- mil­lion dol­lar con­tract to sup­ply Maersk Drilling has been awarded to ITC Global. The three- year deal in­cludes VSAT ( Very Small Aper­ture Ter­mi­nal) con­nec­tiv­ity for more than half of Maersk Drilling's global fleet of off­shore rigs, en­abling voice and data ser­vices for re­mote per­son­nel to stay con­nected with cor­po­rate of­fices, and to main­tain busi­ness op­er­a­tions. "As the industry con­tin­ues to ex­pe­ri­ence some un­pre­dictabil­ity, oil and gas cus­tomers are re­view­ing their part­ner re­la­tion­ships and look­ing for the most ef­fi­cient, best over­all value so­lu­tions," said Richard El­son, vice pres­i­dent of sales and busi­ness de­vel­op­ment at ITC Global. The com­pany will de­ploy ser­vices to nine off­shore rigs span­ning the North Sea, West Africa, Gulf of Mex­ico, and South­east Asia, up­grad­ing the sys­tems on board to pro­vide a faster ser­vices to Maersk Drilling's rigs.
