( 1924) HARWOOD AUTOMATIC
Several manufacturers claim to have invented the first automatic watch but according to our historian this is the titleholder. It was shown at the Basel Fair in 1924 and caused a sensation. John Harwood sold the rights to Fortis to serially manufacture his invention using an A. Schild movement as the base. Blancpain and Felsa also introduced wristwatches powered by the same calibre.
