KANE CAN

Wunderkind Christopher Kane has been the toast of fashionable London ever since he sent out a series of intricately constructed frocks on the Central Saint Martins MA graduate catwalk in 2006. The maverick’s sensibility is not only celebrated among hipsters and industry insiders, it has also grabbed the attention of French luxury powerhouse Pinault Printemps Redoute (PPR), which went on to acquire a 51% stake in the brand in January 2013. Significantly, this is the first time a conglomerate has invested in an emerging name since the start of the recession. Who said London’s young talent lack commercial viability? What is your favourite watch?

– It has got to be a vintage Rolex, a clean and simple one. These pieces feature beautiful craftsmanship, precise mechanics and a lifetime of time-telling. I also loved Rolex’s collaboration with Disney on the Mickey Mouse series; a bold statement masterminded to reach a new consumer group.
