RIVER DEEP, MOUNTAIN HIGH
Alpina has created a limited edition watch in support of the Swiss charity ‘Race for Water’, which will be worn by Alpina brand ambassador Aurélien Ducroz as he undertakes a number of environmental challenges on behalf of the foundation. The watch, called the ‘Alpiner ‘4’ Chronograph, Race for Water’, features the foundation’s colours and will be limited to 400 models worldwide.
Race for Water is a foundation dedicated to water preservation that organises numerous missions worldwide to rally the business and science communities to its cause. It aims to educate and raise awareness concerning two major water-related issues: the pollution of lakes and oceans by plastic and the preservation of freshwater.
In his role as ‘Water Guardian’ for the foundation, two-time world freeride skiing champion Ducroz will venture into unexplored territories where the sea and mountains meet, to document the constantly evolving natural water cycle. It is expected he will reveal information that is essential to the understanding of the evolution of seas and oceanic climate. Guido Benedini, CEO of Alpina, which is donating part of the profits of the limited edition watch to support the foundation’s activities, said: "We are proud and happy to support the Race for Water foundation and our ambassador and ‘Water Guardian’ Aurélien Ducroz in their efforts to save the most precious resource in the world, the source of which, for the most part, is found in the Alpine environment. It is our duty and our responsibility."
Anne-Cécile Turner, director of the Race for Water foundation, said: "The Foundation is very proud to welcome Alpina, a prestigious brand, as an Official Supporter as well as Aurélien Ducroz, the perfect ambassador to represent the foundation and accompany us in our efforts to raise awareness regarding water preservation."
