ON THE SLOPES
Linde Werdelin is a brand synonymous with skiing… after all, the distinctly dynamic brand was born of a near fatal accident. Eighteen years ago Jorn Werdelin, an accomplished off-piste skier, was caught unawares in sudden and severe weather whilst skiing, got lost on the mountain, and ended up going off a cliff and breaking his back. The silver lining to this drastic event was the creation of Linde Werdelin with his friend of more than 40 years, Morten Linde. For Linde, “Analogue is the best way to read time and digital is how you assimilate technical details”. So, with the aim of integrating both analogue and digital to deliver style and essential functionality, the pair founded the brand in 2002. The result has been collection after collection of expertly crafted sports watches that can be used in conjunction with professional digital instruments to deliver crucial information for skiing and diving.
The Spidospeed Chronograph, launched at Baselworld 2014 features an updated skeletonised dial with new colours, updating the model from its original incarnation three years ago. The new, more open dial highlights the inner workings of the watch, with intricate patterns visible between the subdials. The new colour palette works well, as does the 44mm diameter. The Spidospeed Green case is made of forged carbon and titanium, while the Spidospeed Rosegold features titanium. Each model is limited to 99 pieces.
