Plaza Watch International - - Sihh Special -

What is a lasting memory from any of the last 25 years of the SIHH?

Two years ago, we had appointed a new head of the watchmaking section at our factory in Switzerland, who by chance has the exact same name as the manager of Rafael Nadal who was visiting us at the show. He came to visit the SIHH and of course asked for his pass in order to enter. The guards told him that he already picked up his pass, which surprised him. He was quite new and no one from our French office had met him yet, so when they called my secretary to come down and clear up the matter, she saw him and told the guards he was an imposter trying to sneak inside! The guards were not amused of course… Anyway we all had a good laugh about it shortly after, when it was all cleared up.

What is your favorite watch from any SIHH and why?

Limiting my choice to the SIHH only makes it more difficult. It would have to be a toss-up between my RM 052 Skull Tourbillon and the Rafael Nadal RM 027, mainly because of the exceptional response we had from people about those two pieces. It was like watching a volcanic eruption. Such emotional responses from clients are very fulfilling for me to see after all the hard work these kind of creations require.
