What does Baselworld mean to you per­son­ally and pro­fes­sion­ally, and how do you pre­pare for it?

Basel­word is a tra­di­tion. This year is go­ing to be my 26th Basel fair. It is the most im­por­tant week of the year each year. I can meet with our clients from all over the world in one week and this is key, as it would oth­er­wise take 2 years! Ev­ery year there is the stress of the nov­el­ties to present. Even­though I have said to my­self let's be bet­ter or­ga­nized next year over the years. Ev­ery time our watch­mak­ers as­sem­ble the last piece the day be­fore the open­ing.

What is one of your favourite mem­o­ries from any of the pre­vi­ous Baselworld fairs?

I would come back to Blanc­pain times in 1994 when we had din­ner at Donati with Jean-Claude Biver to­gether with M. Mar­gulies, our dis­trib­u­tor for UK and a big sup­plier of the Brunei's golden pe­riod. We took the panel "COM­PLET" at the restau­rant and put it on the door of our booth the next morn­ing show­ing that we were "COM­PLET" full or sold out. That re­mains a great mem­ory of en­joy­able times.
