New CEO for La Mon­tre Her­mès

In the con­tin­ual flux of jobs at the top, La Mon­tre Her­mès loses the friendly and ca­pa­ble giant that is Luc Per­ra­mond, and gains Lau­rent Dordet as the new CEO of the com­pany, ef­fec­tive as of March 1. Per­ra­mond took over as Pres­i­dent & CEO of Ralph Lauren Watches and Jew­elry, a di­vi­sion of the Ralph Lauren group, in Fe­bru­ary.

Dordet takes the helm at La Mon­tre Her­mès af­ter two decades at the com­pany, serv­ing in var­i­ous ar­eas. He joined Her­mès In­ter­na­tional at the end of 1995 as part of the Group’s Fi­nance Depart­ment. Af­ter seven years in this po­si­tion he was ap­pointed Deputy Chief Ex­ec­u­tive Of­fi­cer of the Hold­ing Tex­tile Her­mès and sub­se­quently be­came CEO of Her­mès Cuirs Pré­cieux. He leaves his po­si­tion as CEO of Her­mès Maro­quinerie Sel­lerie and will ap­ply his for­mi­da­ble busi­ness acu­men to the world of watches. Dordet’s first task will be to re­v­erse last year’s de­crease in sales that was symp­to­matic of the Asian cri­sis, and it will be in­ter­est­ing to see how he goes about the chal­lenges ahead.
