New CEO for La Montre Hermès
In the continual flux of jobs at the top, La Montre Hermès loses the friendly and capable giant that is Luc Perramond, and gains Laurent Dordet as the new CEO of the company, effective as of March 1. Perramond took over as President & CEO of Ralph Lauren Watches and Jewelry, a division of the Ralph Lauren group, in February.
Dordet takes the helm at La Montre Hermès after two decades at the company, serving in various areas. He joined Hermès International at the end of 1995 as part of the Group’s Finance Department. After seven years in this position he was appointed Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Holding Textile Hermès and subsequently became CEO of Hermès Cuirs Précieux. He leaves his position as CEO of Hermès Maroquinerie Sellerie and will apply his formidable business acumen to the world of watches. Dordet’s first task will be to reverse last year’s decrease in sales that was symptomatic of the Asian crisis, and it will be interesting to see how he goes about the challenges ahead.
