Even though it’s an inland experience, adrenaline junkies will get just as wet whitewater rafting in Alaska as they would any ocean sport. While the state boasts several worldclass runs, Six Mile Creek is perhaps its most accessible at less than 90 minutes from Anchorage.
This natural thrill ride features unparalleled scenery and class IV and V rapids, with tour options for a two- and- a- half- hour/ two- canyon run or the more intense, fourhour/ three- canyon run. There’s no transfer to the launch site, so interested participants would have to rent a car out of Anchorage. If you can, the experience is well worth it. Options include tours with the Chugach Outdoor Center and NOVA river rafting guides.
