Iran, Turkey news agen­cies to broaden co­op­er­a­tion

Iran and Turkey high­lighted the need to ex­pand ties in me­dia af­fairs.

In a meet­ing be­tween Iran's Am­bas­sador to Turkey Mo­ham­mad Ebrahim Ta­he­rian-fard and Man­ag­ing Di­rec­tor of Anadolu Agency Shonal Gan­guly, the two sides also ex­am­ined ways to ex­pand co­op­er­a­tion at bi­lat­eral, re­gional and in­ter­na­tional lev­els, wrote IRNA.

Not­ing that bi­lat­eral re­la­tions have en­tered a new phase fol­low­ing Turk­ish Pres­i­dent Re­cep Tayyip Er­do­gan's re­cent trip to Iran, Ta­he­rian-fard pointed to co­op­er­a­tion be­tween the two sides on Syr­ian peace talks in As­tana as well as com­mon stances and ex­change of views on the re­cent ref­er­en­dum on Iraqi Kur­dis­tan.

The Is­lamic Repub­lic of Iran at­taches im­por­tance to ex­pan­sion of Tehran-ankara re­la­tions and also co­op­er­a­tion on re­gional de­vel­op­ments, he said.

Gan­guly said close me­dia co­op­er­a­tion can help ex­pand re­la­tions and co­op­er­a­tion be­tween the two coun­tries.

Turk­ish peo­ple have a pos­i­tive at­ti­tude to­wards Iran and a large num­ber of tourists visit tourism and cul­tural sites in the two coun­tries each year, he said.
