Iran animated flick picked in Italy

-

Iranian animation ‘Run Rostam Run’ has been selected for screening at international festival in Italy.

Hossein Molayemi’s animation will be shown in the competition section of the 12th River Film Festival, to be held from June 15 to 30, ifilmtv.ir reported.

The festival, which will take place in Padova, Italy, will screen the animation which was earlier nominated at Wales Film Festival.

‘Run Rostam, Run’, an 11-minute animation, was first screened at the 10th Biennial Animation Festival in Tehran.

The short animation is a free, comic adaptation of the tragic Persian story of Rostam and Sohrab. Rostam, the national epic hero, must travel in time and come to modern Tehran to make up for what he has done to his son, Sohrab. While in Tehran, he cannot decide whether to accomplish his goal in a legal manner or an illegal one.

The tragedy of Rostam and Sohrab forms part of the 10th-century Persian epic Shahnameh (Book of the King) by great Persian poet Abolqassem Ferdowsi.
