Iran short ‘Malakout’ to vie at Polish festival
Iranian short film ‘Malakout’, by Farnoosh Abedi, is slated to attend the 13th ANIMATOR Film Festival in Poznań, Poland, slated for October 3-9.
The eight-minute animation, which is in the horror genre, is about a piano player who loses one of his hands in an accident and, consequently, his ability to play the piano.
Due to the loss, he undergoes a hand transplantation surgery, but the transplanted hand is that of a dead criminal, which turns the pianist into a villain and murderer, ifilmtv. com reported.
‘Malakout’ has already attended a number of film events, such as the Guadalajara International Film Festival in Mexico, the Brooklyn International Film Festival in the US, Capital City Film Festival in the US, and the Galactic Imaginarium Film Festival in Spain.
The animation has previously won several awards including the Special Mention Short award at the Silk Road International Film Festival in Ireland and the Best Animation award at the Black Country Horror Shorts Film Festival in the UK.
Launched in 2008, the ANIMATOR Film Festival is the biggest festival of animations in Poland.
