Tehran Int’l Book Fair canceled in 2020
Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, the 33rd Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF) was canceled, said Mohsen Javadi, director of the event.
Also the deputy culture minister for cultural affairs, Javadi stated that some other alternative programs will be planned and announced soon, IRNA wrote. Although TIBF is the most significant cultural event in Iran, due to the increasing number of deaths caused by the spread of the coronavirus in the country, and upon the recommendation of Iran’s National Headquarters for Managing and Fighting the Coronavirus, the organizers of the book fair decided to cancel the event in 2020.
Numerous cultural and art events, including the Fajr International Film Festival, have also been canceled since February, when the first cases of the coronavirus infection were reported in Qom.
The 33rd TIBF was scheduled to be held from April 14 to 24, while Turkey had been selected to be the guest of honor at TIBF 2020.
