Call for Im­ple­men­ta­tion of Joint MoUs on Women Af­fairs

TEHRAN (IRNA) - Iran and Swe­den stressed im­ple­ment­ing joint MoUs in women-re­lated fields.

Iran’s Vice Pres­i­dent for Women and Fam­ily Af­fairs Ma­soumeh Ebtekar made the re­marks Tues­day in a meet­ing with Swe­den’s en­voy to Tehran He­lena Sån­ge­land. Dur­ing the meet­ing, she pointed to vi­o­lence against women and chil­dren, and called for ur­gent mea­sures to re­move them. Ira­nian vice pres­i­dent also re­ferred to em­pow­er­ing women in in­for­ma­tion tech­nol­ogy, en­trepreneur­ship, en­vi­ron­ment and cli­mate change fields.

Mean­while, Sån­ge­land ex­pressed Swe­den’s in­ter­est in de­vel­op­ing ties with Iran not only in Swe­den but in Euro­pean Union.

She also pointed to women’s im­por­tant role in econ­omy, say­ing women play ma­jor role in Swe­den’s eco­nomic growth.
