Iran After EU Support To Enter Global Market
TEHRAN - Visiting EU Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development Mr. Phil Hogan yesterday met the chairman of Iran’s Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mine and Agriculture (ICCIMA) Mr. Gholamhossein Shafei and discussed major grounds for cooperation in agriculture sector.
During the meeting, Shafei welcomed the presence of the EU delegation in Tehran, adding that it is an indication to the determination of both sides for expanding cooperation especially in agriculture sector.
He said Iran needs EU support to enter global market for its agro products and transfer of technologies. He added that there are various grounds for cooperation between Iran and EU like fishery, food, hygiene and husbandry.
Shafei called for marketing of Iranian agro products in European market, adding that Iran needs EU support for entry of its products to the European markets.
He also emphasized the educational and training cooperation between Iran and EU, adding that familiarity of Iranian producers or exporters with European standards can make ground for mutual cooperation.
Shafei noted that Iran is major producer of date, saffron and pomegranate and it can cooperate with EU in producing them or in convertible industries.
Hogan, for his part, said that EU is supporting the JCPOA and will defend it. He said EU is interested in a win-win cooperation with Iran in political and economic issues. He added that there are great grounds for joint cooperation in food producing and agro products with Iran.
He welcomed Shafei’s proposal for cooperation and exports of products to European market, adding that Iran can be a hub for Europe’s products in the region.
He also announced that EU will dispatch another delegation to Iran next week to discuss water and environment issues.
Hogan also welcomed cooperation between private sectors of EU and Iran.
