Earthquake Death Toll Rises to 530, 7460 Injured
TEHRAN (MNA) – Death toll for a devastating 7.3 magnitude earthquake on Iraq-Iran border has risen to 530, with 7460 reported as injured.
The earthquake has left devastating damage to Kermanshah province, especially Sarpol-e Zahab county, about 15km (10 miles) from the border. The number of fatalities is feared to rise.
The 7.3 magnitude earthquake struck Sunday night about 64 miles (103km) southeast of the city of Sulaymaniyah, near the Iraq-Iran border.
The earthquake was felt across large parts of Iran, including Kermanshah, Kurdistan, Ilam, West Azerbaijan and East Azerbaijan provinces.
