Earth­quake Death Toll Rises to 530, 7460 In­jured

TEHRAN (MNA) – Death toll for a dev­as­tat­ing 7.3 mag­ni­tude earth­quake on Iraq-Iran bor­der has risen to 530, with 7460 re­ported as in­jured.

The earth­quake has left dev­as­tat­ing dam­age to Ker­man­shah prov­ince, es­pe­cially Sar­pol-e Za­hab county, about 15km (10 miles) from the bor­der. The num­ber of fa­tal­i­ties is feared to rise.

The 7.3 mag­ni­tude earth­quake struck Sun­day night about 64 miles (103km) south­east of the city of Su­lay­maniyah, near the Iraq-Iran bor­der.

The earth­quake was felt across large parts of Iran, in­clud­ing Ker­man­shah, Kur­dis­tan, Ilam, West Azer­bai­jan and East Azer­bai­jan prov­inces.
