UN Regional Center To Open in Tehran
TEHRAN (ISNA) – As a regional institution of United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), the Asian and Pacific Centre for the Development of Disaster Information Management (APDIM) will be inaugurated in Tehran during a ceremony on Tuesday and Wednesday January 30 and 31.
The opening ceremony will be held in the presence of officials and representatives of ESCAP’s member countries.
Simultaneously with the inauguration of the APDIM, an administrative and financial agreement will be signed between the chief of Plan and Budget Organization of Iran and the deputy Secretary General of the United Nations and the Executive Secretary of ESCAP.
Meanwhile, the second meeting of Governing Council of APDIM, the regional meeting on information management to reduce and cope with disaster, the consultative meeting of regional cooperation to deal with dust in Asia-Pacific will be held in Tehran.
During the two-day meeting, 40 representatives of ESCAP member countries will attend. They will discuss regional disasters including earthquake, dust, flood and different ways of coping with them.
