KSC Is to Increase Production Capacity by 5.7m Tons

TEHRAN – The CEO of Khouzestan Steel Company says that the company is to boost its production capacity since the beginning of the next Iranian calendar year.

Mohammad Keshani said that the current production capacity is 3.7m tons and it will increased by 5.2m tons since the beginning of the next year.

Reacting to the budget bill and its impacts on the steel industry, he said that steel industry is considered as one of the mother industries and one of the factors of development in the world, adding that most of the developed countries are among the top steel producing or consuming countries in the world.

Keshani said that steel is one of the dominant metals in the infrastructures and construction sector of any country, and the steel per capita consumption of each country has direct impact on the development of the country.

He reiterated that industries do not get any budget from the government but the allocated budget for different sectors can have direct or indirect impacts on the industries. Keshani noted that budget on the construction and developmental plans will have great impact on the industries. He said the government did not allocate significant budget for the developmental projects this year and it led to recession and it created problems for the producers.

On presence in the international markets, he said that exports play a significant role in protecting and progress of steel industry and because of rise in the number of steel producers, there is a tough competition to enter international markets. Keshani asserted that Iranian steel producers are doing their best to gain more share in the international markets by improving their products.
