Iran, Sene­gal to Mull Over Nano Co­op­er­a­tion

TEHRAN (MNA) – Iran and Sene­gal will ink a Mem­o­ran­dum of Un­der­stand­ing (MoU) in the course of the re­cent visit of Ira­nian For­eign Min­is­ter Mo­ham­mad Javad Zarif and se­nior man­agers in the field of nan­otech­nol­ogy to Sene­gal.

Given the above is­sue, an ex­pert-level ses­sion was held be­tween Ira­nian and Sene­galese of­fi­cials in var­i­ous fields es­pe­cially nan­otech­nol­ogy.

Ali Morteza Bi­rang Head of In­ter­na­tional In­ter­ac­tions Cen­ter of Pres­i­den­tial Deputy for Sci­ence and Tech­nol­ogy ex­pounded on Iran’s tech­no­log­i­cal achieve­ments es­pe­cially in the knowl­edge-based eco­nomic sec­tor and de­vel­op­ment of IT parks and knowl­edge-based com­pa­nies.

Reza Asad­i­fard Man­ager of Mar­ket and In­dus­try Work­ing Group of Pres­i­den­tial Deputy for Sci­ence and Tech­nol­ogy was the next speaker who ex­pressed Iran’s readi­ness for shar­ing its ex­pe­ri­ences in the field of de­vel­op­ment of nan­otech­nol­ogy with Sene­gal.

For his part, Sene­gal’s Min­is­ter of Sci­en­tific Re­search and In­no­va­tion pointed to the com­pe­tent young man­power in his coun­try and added, “gen­er­a­tion of em­ploy­ment op­por­tu­ni­ties for the young and ed­u­cated pop­u­la­tion is one of the pri­or­i­ties of his coun­try.”

Con­struc­tion oper­a­tion of 100 equipped lab­o­ra­to­ries is un­der­way in Sene­gal, the min­is­ter re­it­er­ated.

In this get-to­gether meet­ing, chances of joint co­op­er­a­tion in the in­fras­truc­ture and ed­u­ca­tion de­vel­op­ment sec­tor in the field of nan­otech­nol­ogy was dis­cussed.

It is stip­u­lated that a co­op­er­a­tion agree­ment will be inked by Ira­nian lec­tur­ers to take ad­van­tage of fruit­ful ex­pe­ri­ence of Iran in the de­vel­op­ment of nan­otech­nol­ogy lab­o­ra­to­ries in this African coun­try.

Or­ga­niz­ing train­ing cour­ses es­pe­cially in the field of nan­otech­nol­ogy, set­ting up spe­cial­ized lab­o­ra­tory in the field of nan­otech­nol­ogy, etc. was re­ported as one of the im­por­tant op­por­tu­ni­ties which help Sene­galese ex­perts use nan­otech­nol­ogy in the sec­tor of agri­cul­ture and waste­water treat­ment, the re­port con­cluded.
