Iran progress to U-17 World Cup Round of 16

Iran de­feated Ger­many 4-0 on Tues­day to book a place at the FIFA?U-17 World Cup Round of 16.

Younes Delfi scored twice for Iran in the first half while Al­lah­yar Sayyad­manesh and Vahid Nam­dari rounded of the scor­ing for the Asian cham­pi­ons.

Ger­many, who has one of the best strik­ers in the World Cup, just couldn’t break the res­o­lute Ira­nian de­fence, led by Ali Gho­lamzadeh.

Iran will play Costa Rica on Fri­day while Ger­many meet Guinea.

Iran are sit­ting on top of Group C now with six points from their two matches.

The Ira­nian team have pre­vi­ously de­feated Guinea 3-1 in their open­ing match.

The 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup is the 17th FIFA U-17 World Cup, a bi­en­nial in­ter­na­tional foot­ball tour­na­ment con­tested by men’s un­der-17 na­tional teams.

Or­ga­nized by FIFA, the tour­na­ment is tak­ing place in In­dia be­tween 6 Oc­to­ber and 28 Oc­to­ber 2017, after the coun­try was awarded the host­ing rights on 5 De­cem­ber 2013.

The tour­na­ment marks the first time In­dia have hosted a FIFA tour­na­ment and the first Asian hosted U-17 World Cup since 2013.
