Iran national football team defeated Venezuela 1-0 thanks to a goal from Alireza Jahanbakhsh on Monday.
Iran and Venezuela players observed a minute’s silence to remember those killed in the magnitude-7.3 earthquake that struck late Sunday in Iran’s western provinces.
In the match held at the Goffertstadion in Nijmegen in the Netherlands, Jahanbakhsh found the back of the net in the 57th minute on the counter attack.
Reza Ghoochannejad’s goal was ruled out earlier for offside.
It was Iran’s second victory in four days as Team Melli had defeated Panama 2-1 on Thursday in Graz, Austria.
Iran national football team stretched their unbeaten run to ten matches. Their last defeat was a 1-0 reversal against Iraq in a friendly in March.
