Iran wel­comes Rus­sian in­vest­ments in its en­ergy, trans­port sec­tors

Iran in­vites Rus­sian com­pa­nies to in­vest in con­struc­tion of the Bushehr nu­clear power plant, the Ban­der-Ab­bas ther­mal power plant, and the Bafq-Ker­man rail­road, Speaker of the Ma­jlis (Par­lia­ment of the Is­lamic Repub­lic of Iran) Ali Lar­i­jani said in Moscow on Mon­day.

Speak­ing at a meet­ing with Vy­ach­eslav Volodin, speaker of the State Duma (lower house of the Rus­sian par­lia­ment), he said:

“Th­ese works need fi­nanc­ing, and we will cer­tainly wel­come the in­vest­ments of Rus­sian oil and gas com­pa­nies. I would like to stress it that Rus­sian com­pa­nies have an ex­cel­lent op­por­tu­nity to take part in th­ese projects.”

Ear­lier, the gen­eral con­trac­tor for the con­struc­tion of the sec­ond stage of the Bushehr nu­clear power plant in Iran (the sec­ond and third power units - TASS) said that it plans to start the ac­tual con­struc­tion of the sec­ond power unit in June 2019. The con­struc­tion of the Sirik ther­mal power plant in the city of Ban­dar Ab­bas in the south­ern Ira­nian province of Hor­moz­gan be­gan in Fe­bru­ary. Both projects are im­ple­mented jointly by Rus­sia and Iran.
