Iran bags two golds at 7th IWAS World Games

Mahdi Pour­rah­nama and As­ghar Az­izi won gold medals at IWAS World Games 2017.

MNA - The 7th IWAS World Games 2017 is held in the sports fa­cil­i­ties of Vila Real de Santo An­to­nio in Por­tu­gal from Novem­ber 30 to De­cem­ber 6, MNA re­ported.

Mahdi Pour­rah­nama (-75 kg) won the fi­nal game against Turkey’s Fatih Ce­lik and took the cham­pi­onship ti­tle for para taek­wondo on the first day of the games.

As­ghar Az­izi (+75 kg) de­feated Turkey’s Bayram Kayan and won the sec­ond gold medal for Iran.

Mah­moud Ja­farzadeh (-75 kg), another Ira­nian con­tender in para taek­wondo was beaten by Fatih Ce­lik into the third place in IWAS 2017 world games.

Payam Khan­larkhani coaches Iran’s para taek­wondo team, as­sisted by Mahdi Ah­madi.

In th­ese games, the first place gains 60 points, the sec­ond place 36 points and the third place 24.60 points for 2020 Tokyo Olympic games quo­tas.
