Court rul­ing against ex­pres­i­den­tial aide Baghaei fi­nal­ized

TEHRAN – A se­nior ju­di­cial of­fi­cial an­nounced on Tues­day that the court rul­ing against Hamid Baghaei, a close con­fi­dant of for­mer pres­i­dent Mah­moud Ah­madine­jad, has been an­nounced and that the rul­ing is “fi­nal”.

Baghaei, who was vice pres­i­dent for ex­ec­u­tive af­fairs, has been sen­tenced to 15 years in prison. He also must pay fines.

“The case has been sent from the ap­peal court to pros­e­cu­tor’s of­fice,” Tehran Jus­tice De­part­ment chief Gho­lam-Hos­sein Es­maili con­firmed on Tues­day.

Es­maili said the rul­ing had been an­nounced to Baghaei on Mon­day.

Some me­dia out­lets said that Baghaei had been de­tained on Tues­day but in an in­ter­view with ILNA news agency he dis­missed the re­ports.
