Court ruling against expresidential aide Baghaei finalized
TEHRAN – A senior judicial official announced on Tuesday that the court ruling against Hamid Baghaei, a close confidant of former president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has been announced and that the ruling is “final”.
Baghaei, who was vice president for executive affairs, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison. He also must pay fines.
“The case has been sent from the appeal court to prosecutor’s office,” Tehran Justice Department chief Gholam-Hossein Esmaili confirmed on Tuesday.
Esmaili said the ruling had been announced to Baghaei on Monday.
Some media outlets said that Baghaei had been detained on Tuesday but in an interview with ILNA news agency he dismissed the reports.
