Iraq’s Shakir se­lects new Squad for in­done­sia Match

Salih Sadir, Hawar Mul­lah Muham­mad and Nashat Akram out of Iraqi foot­ball team

The Iraqi Foot­ball As­so­ci­a­tion (IFA) has an­nounced the names of the Iraqi foot­ball team play­ers se­lected by coach Ha­keem Shakir to face In­done­sia in the World Cup qual­i­fiers on Fe­bru­ary 6.

Ac­cord­ing to IFA Spokesman, Naeem Sad­dam, those se­lected in­clude: Noor Sabri, Jalal Has­san, Muham­mad Hameed, Muham­mad Nir­bat, Waleed Salem, Ali Adnan, Zirgham Is­mail, Ah­mad Ibrahim, Salam Shakir, Mustafa Nazim, Ali Bah­jat, Hu­mam Tariq, Ham­madi Ah­mad, Am­mar Ab­dul­hus­sein, Saif Sal­man, Ah­mad Ab­bas, Khal­dun Ibrahim, Ali Hus­sein Rhema, Nabeel Sabah, Muhan­nad Ab­dul­rahim, You­nis Mah­mud, Kar­rar Jassim, and Jawad Kazim.

The fa­mous mid­fielder, Nashat Akram has re­signed from In­ter­na­tional foot­ball be­cause he was not in­vited to par­tic­i­pate in the Gulf cup.

Coach Hakkem Shakir was ap­pointed a few months af­ter Iraq parted with the Brazil­ian Com­pany Zico, and fin­ished the 2013 Guld Cup as run­ners up. Since start­ing Shakir has made rad­i­cal changes in the new Iraqi team by sum­mon­ing new young play­ers, and dis­miss­ing sev­eral fa­mous play­ers such as Salih Sadir, Hawar Mul­lah Muhammed and Nashat Akram.

Iraq comes from Group C which features two-time AFC Asian Cup cham­pi­ons Saudi Arabia, China and In­done­sia.
