Spain won their second World Handball Championship in grand style after they blew away favorites and European title holders against Denmark with 35-19 on Sunday. With the lead swelling to 17 goals in the closing stages, Spain's bench turned to the crowd and danced joyfully before the final whistle as Denmark’s coach Urlik Wilbek motionlessly watched his team's collapse. Croatia won the bronze medal on Saturday, their third in a row after they finished on the podium in Euro 2012 and the London Olympics.
