17 stores and 2 tankers burned in one day

The Kurdish Globe - - EDITORIAL -

Although the amount of financial damages has not yet been estimated, Colonel General Khalil Khidir, Erbil’s Civil Defense Director, the fire only caused minor financial damages.

While Khidir argues that the factor is apparently the carefreeness of the store owners themselves, he does not believe they will be compensated for the damages.

Reports say that no one got hurt during the accident, but store owners ask the relevant government authorities for compensa- tion.

The night before and again in Erbil, two petrol tankers went on fire in the fuel market in the south of the city.

The reason behind the fire was the burning of the fuel pump that was used to discharge fuel from one tanker into the other.

Although none of the fire accidents left victims or caused significant financial losses, failure to follow safety procedures and measures continues to pose threat on the lives and properties of the people.

A general view of the central parts of Erbil.
