Demirtas: we’re closely aware of the KRG’s attempts to support peace process
Pro-Kurdish Democratic and Peace co-chairman, Salahedeen Demirtas says that he is closely aware of the KRG's efforts for supporting peace process in Turkey. "The visit Nechivan Barzani paid to Turkey was for KRG's support to peace process in a historical period", said Demirtas.
During his visit to Turkey and meetings with Turkish PM Receb Teyb Erdogan, Kurdistan Region PM Nechirvan Barzani met with a delegation of Kurdish politicians in Ankara. The delegation consisted of cochairmen of (KCD) Ahmed Turk and Aysel Togluk, and the Kurdish MP in Turkish parliament Seri Sakik.
Nechirvan Barzani insisted that KRG is looking positively at the process and is hoping to reach the desired results. "KRG is as usual ready to pledge any support for upholding peace process in Turkey and we will maintain our attempts", said Barzani, explaining that they will observe with interest to peacefully solving Kurdish question in Turkey, and called on all the parties to exploit the chance and to be cooperative in succeeding the process.
Meanwhile Nechirvan Barzani and the accompanying delegation paid a visit to the Peace and Democratic Party (BDP) General Center in Ankara. The BDP co-chairmen Salahedeen Demirtas and Gultan Kishanik, the KCD co-chairmen Ahmed Turk and Aysel Ogluk, the Kurdish politician Leyla Zana and the MP of Turkey Sery Sakik, received him.
Later in a press conference, Nechirvan Barzani and Salahedeen Demirtas shed light on matters of their meeting. Barzani mentioned that they visited BDP for congratulating Newroz and discussing the peace process and the attempts for a peaceful resolution. He valued the importance of Ocalan's message and the Turkish PM's steps in peace process.
The BDP co-chairman Salahedeen Demirtas said in the conference that they're delighted to meet the KRG Prime Minister in the party's central building in Ankara. "In such a historical time that attempts of peace in Tur- key are very broad, the visit of Kurdistan Prime Minister and the accompanying delegation is very important to us,” said Demirtas. He appreciated the KRG Prime Minister and said that he as the Kurdistan's PM can help more in succeeding peace process and coexistence of Kurds and Turks. "We're closely aware of the KRG's attempts to support peace process,” said Demirtas.
