The 8th International book fair is held in Erbil
President Masoud Barzani attended the opening of the 8th international book fair, alongside a number of officials and foreign guests in Sami Abdul-Rahman Park in Erbil. Almada hosted the fair for publishing and printing in cooperation with Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Ministry of culture.
The President posted on Facebook after attending the ceremony opening, say- ing, “Today I attended the Erbil International book fair, and such fairs are an indication of civilization and part of our culture that respects human thought”. He went on to say “Reading develops our culture, and enriches our society”.
The KRG Minister of Culture noted during the ceremony “This fair’s importance is highlighted through the presence of a large number of intellectuals, and politicians in Erbil”.
In the 8th international book fair, publishing companies from 17 different countries contributed and more than 300 various organizations attended the fair. Nearly 1.5 million titles in Kurdish, Arabic and English languages are showcased with discounts available on various books. The fair will continue for eleven days.
