Solving the Kurdish question: step two
The co-chairman of the Peace and Democracy Party (BDP), Selahattin Demirtaş, said the BDP and the Turkish Government met for the first round of discussions on the Kurdish question on June 21.
“The meeting was officially aimed at finding solutions to the Kurdish question. This was the first official meeting between the BDP and the Turkish government, and it is the second step toward solving Kurdish issues in this country,” said Demirtaş.
The BDP and the Turkish Gov- ernment are expected to hold their second meeting next week to discuss how to implement agreements.
On his return of the BDP delegation to Imrali, where PKK leader Abdulla Ocalan is imprisoned, Demirtaş said that another meeting would be held, and that the government would subsequently reveal the contents of the meeting to the public.
The meetings are part of the ongoing Turkish-Kurd peace process which aims to resolve the Kurdish–Turkish conflict.
