Return of the men
During the last half century, the occupying Iraqi Regime carried out the policy of genocide against people of Kurdistan. In the eighties, the process of extermination and changing the demography of Kurdistan and Arabizing all the national components in Kurdistan reached the peak of its brutality, till it reached forced displacement of people and demolishing more than 4500 villages, adding the Anfal and using banned chemical weapon.
Thirty years ago, on July 31st 1983, in the communities of Qushtapa, Bahrka and Harir, in a security plan, the toppled Iraqi regime took 8000 Barzanis consisted of elderly men and adolescent boys in a barbarian deviant process against the humanity buried all of them in the deserts of south of Iraq, as the former president Saddam Hussein had obviously stated that «They have sent Barzanis to the hell.» So those 8000 adolescent boys and elderly men of Barzani tribe were concealed, except their graves and bone could be found in the deserts.
Mothers and babies of 30 years from now are still waiting for their men to come back. Children are waiting for their fathers and brothers homecoming. But there is no trace of anyone of them, even no one knows their destiny, even a tale, the story of the way they were exterminated, they went and never come back. Only if the pain of 30 years of waiting can tell us all these pains and grieves.
Anfal did not end up with 8000 Brazanis, but after that it has started in Germiyan, Koye, Badinan and some other areas. Through some various and frequent stages in 1988 nearly 182 thousands of innocent Kurds consisted of women, men, children, elderly and disabled men in villages of Kurdistan were committed genocide against and were moved to southern Iraqi deserts, whether to be buried alive or mass killed and vanished without trace by the order of Baath regime.
The Supreme Iraqi Criminal Tribunal, the parliament and even Iraqi presidency announced the process of extermination of Kurds as genocide, although the Iraqi government hasn>t yet implemented the decision of compensation regarding Anfal case. At the same time, there are still tens of thousands of men lost in Anfal operations are waited to be brought back home. We all know that the return is only the return of their decayed soulless corpse, their white clothes, hair and hats.
Anfal is the most hideous incident ever against humanity in the 20th century. It>s the most serious extermination process has carried out under the exploitation and impact of religion.
The impervious and suffered mothers of Barzanis have been waiting their men for 30 years. The men who far-off from conscience and any possible return were silently annihilated. Their children of 30 years ago are still waiting for their fathers, but those men apparently have no address neither in the paradise nor the hell of Baath. The mothers in black of Anfal are waiting for their lost hearts, but no men have any trace in order to tell their story and the cruel massacres by Baath and the way they were annihilated.
The men did not return, but Kurdistan did. Kurdistan returned from inside chemical bombardment and from the mountains. Halabja returned, the mass graves returned. The freedom of Kurds and the political entity of Kurdistan Region returned. But the men are waiting for UN and political leadership of Kurdistan to establish a free and just state instead of building graveyards. The men who haven>t yet returned, are not returning as long as Kurdistan is still not a state, fearing that they>re (Anfal)ed again. The brave men of Barzanis>, the impervious people of Garmiyan who were (Anfal)ed, the martyrs of chemical bombardment of Halabja are not returning because they do not have free and independent graveyards.
