Pres­i­dent Barzani sup­ports run­ning elec­tions on time

KR Pres­i­dency, in a state­ment, said that Pres­i­dent Barzani does not sup­port de­lay­ing the par­lia­men­tary elec­tions and he wants the elec­tions to be held on time.

“There was re­cently some news that cir­cu­lated in the me­dia about the pos­si­bil­ity to post­pone hold­ing of Kur­dis­tan Par­lia­men­tary elec­tions, but to demon­strate the truth de­clare to peo­ple of Kur­dis­tan Presi- dent Barzani has per­formed his le­gal du­ties and set Septem­ber 21, 201304.asthe date of the elec­tions of the Kur­dis­tan Par­lia­ment.” Read the state­ment

This date has been con­firmed by The Kur­dis­tan Par­lia­ment un­der the Law No. 18 for the year 2013. In ad­di­tion to that, none of the po­lit­i­cal par­ties, Kur­dis­tan Par­lia­ment, Kur­dis­tan Re­gional Govern­ment, In­de­pen­dent High Elec­toral Com­mis­sion (IHEC), have asked the pres­i­dent Barzani to change the iden­ti­fied date of the elec­tions in Kur­dis­tan.

“We an­nounce that Pres­i­dent Barzani is not with the post­pone­ment of the elec­tions in any way. And if there are peo­ple or par­ties be­lieved that the post­pone­ment of par­lia­men­tary elec­tions is in the in­ter­est of Pres­i­dent of the Re­gion, Barzani sees the elec­tions are ne- ces­sity to take place as sched­uled on Septem­ber 21.” The state­ment di­vulged

Ac­cord­ing to IHEC, 31 po­lit­i­cal en­ti­ties are go­ing to com­pete for win­ning 111 seats at the par­lia­ment. The par­ties have al­ready sub­mit­ted the name of their can­di­dates.

The Re­gion’s last pres­i­den­tial and par­lia­men­tary elec­tions were held in the July of 2009.
