New tour­sim satelite chan­nel to be­launched

Er­bil Branch of the Kur­dis­tan Re­gion’s Ho­tels and Restau­rants Union or­ga­nized a work­shop in Er­bil about some tourism re­lated top­ics in Er­bil

The work­shop, which was or­ga­nized in co­op­er­a­tion with the Me­dia Depart­ment of the Tourism Board was de­liv­ered by the deputy gover­nor of Er­bil, Chair­man of Tourism Board and Chair­man of the Ho­tels and Restau­rants Union.

Dur­ing the work­shop, four ma­jor top­ics were dis­cussed, which in­cluded prepa­ra­tions for the Arab Tourism Cap­i­tal of 2014, the free sup­port and as­sis­tance de­liv­ered by the Board to the pri­vate sec­tor, elec­tronic travel guide and a pro­posal for a tourism satel­lite chan­nel.

The first topic was de­liv­ered by Tahir Ab­dula, Deputy Gover­nor of Er­bil. Ab­d­u­alla talked about a doc­u­men­tary movie they have pro­duced to pro­mote Er­bil as the Arab Tourism Cap­i­tal of 2014. More­over, he shared some im­por­tant in­for­ma­tion about the gov­er­norate’s ac­tiv­i­ties in the tourism sec­tor.

Maulawi Jab­bar, Chair­man of the Tourism Board talked about the fa­cil­i­ties and ser­vices his Board has de­liv­ered to the pri­vate sec­tor for the pur­pose of im­prov­ing tourism sec­tor in Kur­dis­tan Re­gion such as tourism loans, ren­o­va­tion of tourist at­trac­tions, as well as de­vel­op­ing an elec­tronic travel guide of Kur­dis­tan for mo­bile.

Nadir Rosti, spokesper­son of the Board showed the at­ten­dants a doc­u­men­tary movie about the elec­tronic travel guide, a guide on in­stal­la­tion of the App on smart­phones, how to use the guide as well as its ben­e­fits for the trav­el­ers and ho­tels.

The Ho­tels and Restau­rants Union and the Tour- ism Board an­nounced a pro­posal for launch­ing a tourism satel­lite chan­nel in the shape of a Pub­licPri­vate-Part­ner­ship (PPP) by the co­op­er­a­tion be- tween the Union and the Board.

Ac­cord­ing to the pro­posal the mis­sion of the chan­nel will be to in­tro­duce Kur­dis­tan’s tourism sec­tor to the world.

The au­thor­i­ties at­tend­ing the work­shop de­cided to start the prepa­ra­tions for the re­al­iza­tion of this pro­ject.
