New toursim satelite channel to belaunched
Erbil Branch of the Kurdistan Region’s Hotels and Restaurants Union organized a workshop in Erbil about some tourism related topics in Erbil
The workshop, which was organized in cooperation with the Media Department of the Tourism Board was delivered by the deputy governor of Erbil, Chairman of Tourism Board and Chairman of the Hotels and Restaurants Union.
During the workshop, four major topics were discussed, which included preparations for the Arab Tourism Capital of 2014, the free support and assistance delivered by the Board to the private sector, electronic travel guide and a proposal for a tourism satellite channel.
The first topic was delivered by Tahir Abdula, Deputy Governor of Erbil. Abdualla talked about a documentary movie they have produced to promote Erbil as the Arab Tourism Capital of 2014. Moreover, he shared some important information about the governorate’s activities in the tourism sector.
Maulawi Jabbar, Chairman of the Tourism Board talked about the facilities and services his Board has delivered to the private sector for the purpose of improving tourism sector in Kurdistan Region such as tourism loans, renovation of tourist attractions, as well as developing an electronic travel guide of Kurdistan for mobile.
Nadir Rosti, spokesperson of the Board showed the attendants a documentary movie about the electronic travel guide, a guide on installation of the App on smartphones, how to use the guide as well as its benefits for the travelers and hotels.
The Hotels and Restaurants Union and the Tour- ism Board announced a proposal for launching a tourism satellite channel in the shape of a PublicPrivate-Partnership (PPP) by the cooperation be- tween the Union and the Board.
According to the proposal the mission of the channel will be to introduce Kurdistan’s tourism sector to the world.
The authorities attending the workshop decided to start the preparations for the realization of this project.
