U.S. Con­sul Gen­eral Opens Con­sulate Booth at Er­bil In­ter­na­tional Fair

Con­sul Gen­eral Joseph Pennington opened the U.S. Con­sulate Gen­eral's booth at the ninth an­nual Er­bil In­ter­na­tional Fair (EIF) on Septem­ber 23, wel­com­ing dig­ni­taries, busi­ness­peo­ple, and other visi­tors. Mark­ing the Con­sulate Gen­eral's sec­ond straight year of par­tic­i­pa­tion in the EIF, which hosts the largest num­ber of ex­hibitors among Iraqi trade shows, Con­sul Gen­eral Pennington noted: “The United States wel­comes this op­por­tu­nity to en­gage fair visi­tors from through­out Iraq and be­yond on busi­ness, travel, and ed­u­ca­tional op­por­tu­ni­ties. We are hon­ored to at­tend to­day’s open­ing of this in­ter­na­tional fair, which demon­strates great po­ten­tial for a di­ver­si­fi­ca­tion of the mar­ket and econ­omy in the Iraqi Kur­dis­tan Re­gion.”

From Septem­ber 23 to Sep- tem­ber 26, the Con­sulate Gen­eral booth will be staffed by rep­re­sen­ta­tives of the U.S. Com­mer­cial Ser­vice, who will of­fer a wide range of in­for­ma­tion on U.S. pro­grams to fa­cil­i­tate trade be­tween the United States and Iraq. An ed­u­ca­tional ad­vi­sor will also be avail­able to dis­cuss op­por­tu­ni­ties for study in the United States, and Iraqi job seek­ers will have the op­por­tu­nity to reg­is­ter on-site for the FO­RAS job op­por­tu­ni­ties pro­gram, an Iraq-wide ini­tia­tive spon­sored by the United States Agency for In­ter­na­tional De­vel­op­ment (USAID).
