U.S. Consul General Opens Consulate Booth at Erbil International Fair
Consul General Joseph Pennington opened the U.S. Consulate General's booth at the ninth annual Erbil International Fair (EIF) on September 23, welcoming dignitaries, businesspeople, and other visitors. Marking the Consulate General's second straight year of participation in the EIF, which hosts the largest number of exhibitors among Iraqi trade shows, Consul General Pennington noted: “The United States welcomes this opportunity to engage fair visitors from throughout Iraq and beyond on business, travel, and educational opportunities. We are honored to attend today’s opening of this international fair, which demonstrates great potential for a diversification of the market and economy in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region.”
From September 23 to Sep- tember 26, the Consulate General booth will be staffed by representatives of the U.S. Commercial Service, who will offer a wide range of information on U.S. programs to facilitate trade between the United States and Iraq. An educational advisor will also be available to discuss opportunities for study in the United States, and Iraqi job seekers will have the opportunity to register on-site for the FORAS job opportunities program, an Iraq-wide initiative sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
