Deadly ex­plo­sion hits Bartella

A car bomb hit Zuhoor Com­pound, a Kur­dish in­hab­ited area in Bartella, a town near Mo­sul City, leav­ing 15 deaths and more than 50 in­juries, in the morn­ing of Thurs­day, Oc­to­ber 17th, the third day of Eid al Adha.

Ac­cord­ing to in­for­ma­tion an­nounced by se­cu­rity au­thor­i­ties of Bartella, a truck loaded with ex­plo­sives ex­ploded in Zuhoor, tar­get­ing the Shabak Kur­dish in­hab­i­tants of the com­pound. A num­ber of women and chil­dren were among the vic­tims.

Health au­thor­i­ties stated that the sit­u­a­tion of some of the in­juries is se­ri­ous and they are ex­pect­ing the num­ber of deaths to rise.

Bartella is a sub-dis­trict lo­cated ap­prox­i­mately 20 kilo­me­ters east of Mo­sul. Bartella’s pop­u­la­tion is mixed, ma­jor­ity be­ing Assyr­i­ans, with some Kurds and Arabs as well.
