Kurdish PM meets his Turkish counterpart
The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), Nechirvan Barzani, met his Turkish opposite number, Recep Teyyip Erdoğan, in Konya, a Turkish city in Central Anatolia, on Tuesday December 17 2013.
The meeting took place in the context of Barzani’s visit to the annual Mevlana Celaletting Romi Ceremonies, a traditional religious celebration in the area, following an official invitation from Prime Minister Erdoğan.
Prime Minister Barzani was accompanied by the KRG Minister of Natural Resources (DFR) Dr. Ashti Hawrami, and the KRG’s Official Spokesperson, Safeen Dizayee.
Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davudoglu also attended the meeting, where talks focused on bilateral relations between Turkey and the Kurdistan Region in terms of politics, economy, trade and—especially--energy.
Another topic under discussion was the current situations in Syria and its impact on the region in general and Iraq, the Kurdistan Region and Turkey in particular.
The Turkish and Kurdish premiers also discussed internal political issues in Iraq and relations between Baghdad and Erbil.
