An­other IHEC em­ployee killed in Mo­sul

An em­ployee of the In­de­pen­dent High Elec­toral Com­mis­sion (IHEC) in Iraq was killed in an armed at­tack in Mo­sul on Wed­nes­day night. A se­cu­rity source re­ports that unknown gun­men opened fire on an IHEC em­ployee near his home in the east of Mo­sul.

Ac­cord­ing to the source, the em­ployee died as a re­sult of his in­juries. This is the sec­ond mur­der of IHEC per­son­nel in the prov­ince in 24 hours.

The In­de­pen­dent High Elec­toral Com­mis­sion (IHEC) is an in­de­pen­dent pro­fes­sional state body su­per­vised by the Coun­cil of Rep­re­sen­ta­tives. It is ex­clu­sively re­spon­si­ble for or­ga­niz­ing, im­ple­ment­ing and su­per­vis­ing all kinds of elec­tions and ref­er­enda.

Wed­nes­day was a night­mare for the peo­ple of Nin­eveh as a bomb ex­ploded on the same night. Tar­get­ing an Iraqi army unit, the bomb killed six sol­diers and in­jured nine oth­ers.
