Nechirvan Barzani donates $100,000 USD to the Yazidis to establish a new House in Georgia
Pir Akid, the head of the Yazidi foundation and the Yazidi House in Georgia, has announced in an exclusive interview on the Lalesh Media network that Nechirvan Barzani, the head of the Kurdistan Regional Government, has donated $100,000 USD as a contribution to the project to build the House in the Georgian Capital, Tbilisi. Akid expressed his gratitude to the head of KRG for his humanitarian stance. “Adil Akrey, a former member of the Kurdistan parliament, visited the House in Tbilisi recently and informed us of the news”, added Akid. “We are ready to build our foundations”, pointing out that donations and gifts have been received from different sources and individuals including the head of the Yazidis worldwide, Tahseen Bak, and Taeeb Berwary, the former Iraqi ambassador to Georgia. Akid added that: “Yazidi the world over want to live in peace and coexist with other religions; they seek to establish foundations and Houses of this sort in the different places they live around the world. Christians and Moslems establish churches and mosques as a sign of people drawing closer to God, and the Yazidi also wish and hope to establish such foundations to allow them to come closer to their religion and to maintain their traditions and show the world that they exist and practice a religion called ‘Yazidi’”.
Haasan Ali, a young Yazidi citizen, expressed his gratitude to all those who help and donate money for the establishing of Yazidi foundations, and to the head of the KRG, Nechirvan Barzani. Daham Fano, another Yazidi citizen, said: ''I thank everyone who cares about the Yazidi and I thank Nechirvan Barzani for his kindness and his donation. The Yazidi House was built in 2010 in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, and the administrative board built large headquarters for the House in 2013. Many projects are still ongoing in an effort to serve the needs of the Yazidi community in Georgia.
