U.S Vice Pres­i­dent Bi­den Calls Pres­i­dent Barzani

Er­bil, Kur­dis­tan Re­gion of Iraq (KRP.org) – Kur­dis­tan Re­gion Pres­i­dent Ma­soud Barzani spoke with U.S. Vice Pres­i­dent Joseph Bi­den on Fri­day about the planned of­fi­cial visit by Pres­i­dent Barzani to Wash­ing­ton D.C. this week to meet Pres­i­dent Obama and Vice Pres­i­dent Bi­den at the White House.

The U.S. Vice Pres­i­dent said that it was un­for­tu­nate that the visit did not take place due to in­con­ve­nient sched­ules. They both un­der­lined the ne­ces­sity of this visit to take place in the fu­ture.

In their tele­phone con­ver­sa­tion, they also dis­cussed bi­lat­eral re­la­tions and the im­por­tance of fur­ther en­hanc­ing the friendly re­la­tions that ex­ist be­tween the United States and the Kur­dis­tan Re­gion. The Pres­i­dent and the U.S Vice Pres­i­dent ex­changed views on the gen­eral sit­u­a­tion in Iraq, par­tic­u­larly the se­cu­rity sit­u­a­tion, and re­la­tions be­tween Er­bil and Bagh­dad.
