Turkey PM Erdogan meets PM Barzani
The agenda set for the meeting included discussions about the region, an oil pipeline and the 'solution process'.
Turkey’s Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan met on Friday with Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani in Istanbul.
Regional developments, an oil pipeline and the solution process of the 'Kurdish issue' were set for the agenda for the meeting.
The meeting at Erdogan’s of- fice in Dolmabahce Palace lasted around one hour and was closed to press.
Turkey’s Energy Minister Taner Yildiz also attended the meeting.
Barzani also traveled to Baghdad on Sunday, February 16 to solve the problems of the budget crisis and oil exports with the al-Maliki government.
The problems between the Region and the central government have recently escalated as the Kurds started to pump first oil through direct pipelines to Turkey earlier this year and Baghdad reacted by passing the year’s budget against the will of the Kurds and stopped sending funds to the KRG in January and February 2014.
The region is currently facing a financial problem due to that fact and all government salaries of January were delayed in addition to the suspension of numerous public sector investment and service projects.
