Kur­dish girls con­quer Iraqi Taek­wondo team

The Iraqi Cen­tral Taek­wondo Fed­er­a­tion (ICTF) called six Kur­dish fe­male ath­letes to join the Iraqi se­nior squad. The play­ers selected to join the Iraqi women’s team all passed the the­o­ret­i­cal and prac­ti­cal tests set thanks to their ad­vanced tech­nique, qual­i­fi­ca­tions, and strength.

Over the last decade, the per­for­mance lev­els and skills of Kur­dish fe­male Taek­wondo fighters have risen con­sid­er­ably.

The in­spi­ra­tion for Taek­wondo in the Kur­dis­tan Re­gion came from South Korean troops de­ployed in the area. The in­tro­duc­tion of Taek­wondo was part of a Korean pol­icy to win the hearts and minds of the younger gen­er­a­tion. They trained and opened Taek­wondo
