KOICA Headquarters dispatches Two Teams of Experts into KRG
KOICA Erbil Office received two teams of experts regarding the implementation of two projects in KRG Region, namely, KIPA (Kurdistan Institute for Public Administration) and the school projects in Khabat, Erbil & Halabja, Sulaymaniyah governorates on 8th and 9th of February 2014, respectively.
The Project for the Capacity Building of the Kurdistan Institute of Public Administration is a co-budgeted project where KOICA has allocated a total amount of six (6) million US$ dollars for providing equipment & training for its building and officials in order to improve the performance of KRG’s officials through systematic training and strengthen their institutional and infrastructural capacities. The main purpose of the experts visit was to kick off discussions on the framework of the overall project, the detailed work plan, and the establishment of the Project Management Team (PMT) consisting of both Korean experts and KRG officials.
The Project for the Establish- ment of Modern Basic and Secondary Schools in Sulaymaniyah and Erbil of Kurdistan Region is another project where KOICA has allocated a total amount of 9.3 million US$ dollars for its complete implementation. The main aim of this project is to improve the educational infrastructure in Erbil & Sulaymaniyah, and to contribute to human resources development in the whole KRG Region, as well. This time, the experts visited the two governorates in order to review the basic design, perform geological surveys, and discuss the future plans for the successful implementation of the two school projects.
Since its inauguration in 2004, strengthening the capacity build- ing, enhancing the close cooperation between Korea and Kurdistan Regional Government, and promoting the friendly and cooperative ties between the two parties has been KOICA’s main focus in implementing various projects in KRG Region in general.
