Regarding the rumors that the KRG has sold oil, the PM Barzani denied the information. He reiterated that the KRG has not sold even one barrel of oil, but the KRG is trying to reach an agreement regarding this issue with Baghdad. He announced that what happened in Iraq was a serious warning to the Kurds.

Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani has warned Iraqi federal government that if they do not reach an agreement about the disputes, then there are other options ahead.

PM Barzani said: “What we did not expect happened in Iraq. We never expected that Baghdad use people’s payments as a pressure card against Kurdistan.”

Barzani added that cut- ting people’s payments by Baghdad will not make us discouraged and we will try to find a mechanism to stop any party from repeating the same mistake against Kurdistan in the future.

In addition, the PM Barzani stated “Now, we are witnessing that someone in Baghdad issues order to deprive people of their payments, but according to the law, these people are actually employed by the Iraqi government itself.”

Barzani further stated that sooner or later the Iraqi government has to pay the people’s salary, and the federal government should respect the law.

Regarding international mediators, Barzani said: “Iran, Turkey and the US are trying to resolve the conflict.”

Regarding oil exports through State Oil Marketing Organization (SOMO), Barzani said: “To show our goodwill, we decided to export 100, 000 barrels a month through SOMO.”

Barzani thanked the Kurdish people's tolerance and their support for the KRG against Baghdad.

He said that the people’s endurance is a strong message to the federal government. He promised that the issues will be dealt with successfully in the future.

Premier Bargain added that all the Iraqi parties have disagreements with the Iraqi Prime Minister Nour al-Maliki. He said that the Kurds are faithful partners in Iraq and they are a major component of the country and its federal government.

“In 2003, the Kurds returned to Baghdad to join the government voluntarily, but if it continues to violate the constitution, then we will consider other viable options.” Concluded His Excellency the Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani.
