U.S. Consulate General Erbil Congratulates IKR on Provincial Elections

The Kurdish Globe - - NEWS -

The U.S. Consulate General Erbil congratulates the people of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region on conducting successful provincial elections in conjunction with Iraqi federal elections on April 30, ensuring that the citizens of Erbil, Dahuk and Sulaimaniyah have the opportunity to choose their local governments at the ballot box. As Secretary of State John Kerry said, the April 30 elections demonstrated the Iraqi people’s commitment to democracy, and to the advancement of “the vision of a democratic, united, federal, and pluralistic Iraq as defined in the Iraqi constitution.” We congratulate the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) for its impressive management and administration of the elections in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region and throughout Iraq.
