In April nearly 100,000 tourists passed through Haji Omaran Bor­der

The num­ber of tourists us­ing the Haji Omaran bor­der point is in­creas­ing. Dur­ing the April 2014, 98,960 tourists have trav­eled be­tween the Kur­dis­tan Re­gion and Iran through the bor­der. Kur­dish au­thor­i­ties have made all fa­cil­i­ta­tions for the tourists to ac­cel­er­ate the bor­der cross­ing process.

Cap­tain Zi­rar Hus­sein, Di­rec­tor of Haji Omaran Res­i­dency and Pass­port Of­fice told a lo­cal Kur­dish daily news­pa­per that more than 3500 tourists travel through the bor­der ev­ery day.

“As sum­mer is ap­proach­ing, this num­ber is in­creas­ing,” cap­tain Hus­sein says: “Only dur­ing April 51,511 Ira­nian tourists vis­ited Kur­dis­tan Re­gion via Haji Omaran Bor­der; while 47,449 tourists from Kur­dis­tan went in the op­po­site di­rec­tion to­wards Iran dur­ing the same pe­riod.”

Ac­cord­ing to cap­tain Hus­sein, com­pared to April 2013, this year 3,000 more vis­i­tors crossed the bor­der.

Res­i­dency and Pass­port Di­rec­tor also added that his of­fice has done all the nec­es­sary fa­cil­i­ta­tions and pro­vided the tourists with ev­ery­thing nec­es­sary to cross the bor­der as fast and easy as pos­si­ble.”
