In April nearly 100,000 tourists passed through Haji Omaran Border
The number of tourists using the Haji Omaran border point is increasing. During the April 2014, 98,960 tourists have traveled between the Kurdistan Region and Iran through the border. Kurdish authorities have made all facilitations for the tourists to accelerate the border crossing process.
Captain Zirar Hussein, Director of Haji Omaran Residency and Passport Office told a local Kurdish daily newspaper that more than 3500 tourists travel through the border every day.
“As summer is approaching, this number is increasing,” captain Hussein says: “Only during April 51,511 Iranian tourists visited Kurdistan Region via Haji Omaran Border; while 47,449 tourists from Kurdistan went in the opposite direction towards Iran during the same period.”
According to captain Hussein, compared to April 2013, this year 3,000 more visitors crossed the border.
Residency and Passport Director also added that his office has done all the necessary facilitations and provided the tourists with everything necessary to cross the border as fast and easy as possible.”
